Erling Stafsberg, 87, Brainerd, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2000, at home.
He was born Oct. 3, 1913, in Clifford, N.D., to Hans and Nikoline Stafsberg. He graduated from Nevis High School. He married Lorraine B. Cain on Feb. 6, 1943, in Paso Wrobles, Calif. He served in the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He retired from Potlatch Paper in 1977 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and American Legion Post No. 255 of Brainerd.
Survivors include a son, Earl W. Stafsberg, San Ramon, Calif.; three daughters, Dianne Struckmann, Maple Grove, Carol Peterson, Detroit Lakes, and Karen Klein, Fergus Falls; seven grandchildren; a brother, Norman Stafsberg, Chicago; and four sisters, Jeannie Stafsberg, Brainerd, Henrietta Stafsberg, Brainerd, Edna Rodekuhr, Walker, and Agnes Horeish, Shakopee.
His wife, a brother and three sisters died earlier.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brainerd with Pastor Brian Wermager officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery of Brainerd with a flag presentation by American Legion Post No. 255 in Brainerd.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home of Brainerd and an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
