Rachel Baldwin was the daughter of Thomas Baldwin and Catherine Thompson of Maryland.

Rachel Baldwin was born at Fredericktown, Maryland May 2 1826, died at her home in Buchtel, Ohio, February 15, 1900 age 72 yrs, 9 months and 13 days. She was married to James H. Lee of Jefferson County, Virginia February 4, 1841. He also departed this life December 11th, 1886. To this union was given eight children, seven of whom are still living. She joined the M. E. Church January 1853, and has lived a consistent christian till death. She was a good and devoted mother, friend, and neighbor. Her remains were taken to Connett Chapel, where her funeral obsequies took place, and was afterwards buried in the cemetery nearby. "Peace to her ashes and honor to her memory."
