William was listed in the Subsidy rolls for Piddleton parish in 1525 for £30 which indicates that he was a substantial landholder there. He was also liable for a payment of £25 for Sock Dennis Manor which is situated between Ilchester, Somerset and the Dorset border. William owned a half-share of Sock Dennis. He must have also paid tax on Fordington Manor which was inherited by Robert about 1530 when Richard was left the share of Sock Dennis.

Richard Phillips,son of Thomas, born about 1480, owned the other half of Sock Dennis.Held by grant of Lord Henry,late Earl of Wiltshire and the right of Lady Cecily, Marchioness of Dorset, widow of said Earl.
Richard was Under-sheriff of Somerset in 1507.
