Deacon James Meacham, son of Jeremiah Meacham and Rebecca Hawkins. Soldier in battle of Bennington. James came to Williamstown in 1755 with his first cousin Jonathan Meacham from New Salem. In 1762, he brought his wife Lucy Rugg and their first 3 daughters. He built his home overlooking Green River Road. When he died, he left the family farm to his son James Hawkins Meacham.
