He was born Feb. 10, 1889, in Morgan County, a son of William and Phoebe Van Horn Murphy. His wife, the former Violet Duncan, died Feb. 20, 1932.
He is survived by the son; two grandsons, Richard of McConnelsville Route 4 and Harold Lee Murphy of McConnelsville Route 2; five great-grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Rose Barnhart and Mrs. Gladys Schimmel, both of Malta Route 2 and Mrs. Alta Scott of Newark; a brother, James Murphy of Malta Route 2.
Three brothers, Elmer, Floyd and Riley, and two sisters, Lola and Lucy, are deceased.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Fisher Funeral Home in McConnelsville where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday with Rev. Raymond Hassinger officiating. Burial will be in Malta Cemetery.
