Levi Haught was born about 1826 in Monongalia County, West Virginia. One of thirteen children born to Tobias and Catherine (Hensel) Haught.

He married Martha Mallinda Haught, daughter of Joseph and Ann Haught, on May 23, 1842 in Washington County, Ohio.

Together they had at least 10 children: Rebecca (1843-1924), Joshua (1845-1917), Diena (1848-1925), Joseph (1849-1925), Mary Anna (1851-1933), Pleasant (1853-1923), Catharine (1855-1900), Jacob (1859-), George McCelland (1862-1945) and Nancy.

He served during the Civil War. He enlisted in 1861, for three years service. He served as a Private with Company F of the 77th Ohio Volunteer Infantry.

Levi disappeared and was never heard from again. According to Tobias' obit. in 1884, he had not been heard from since 1865.

Because of his disappearance there is no information on when or where he died, and where he was buried.
