Enos McNamara Burt was born in Grenada, Mississippi on December 18,1895. He was the second son of William R. and Mary R. Burt. He had seven known siblings.

On March 18, 1915, Enos married Erla Sedalia Kolb Ward in Clarksville, Arkansas. They had one son, who they named Enos Kolb Burt.

Leaving Arkansas and moving to Oklahoma before 1920, Enos and Erla moved around again prior to 1930, living in various parts of Texas before they finally settled in Wichita Falls. There they founded their own business, which they called the Burt Tank and Oil Supply Company of Wichita Falls. Their business was highly successful and prosperous.

Erla passed away suddenly with a heart attack in 1953. On April 22, 1954 Enos married a second time. His new bride's name was Doris Gwendolyn Batson.

Enos, himself, passed away in 1978 in Mississippi. His body was then returned to be laid to rest beside his first wife, Erla, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
