Kittie was the tenth, and youngest, child of Royal and Betsey (Gallea) Nutting. Her parents separated when she was three years old, and divorced when she was age 6. It is possible the mother could not support the younger children by herself, but for some unknown reason, Kittie was raised by James and Anna (Hill) Cole.

Kittie married Stephen Harrison Vorce January 1, 1879 in Bangor, Michigan when their daughter Blanche was three months old. They had two children, Blanche and Berton. The family was living in Bangor, Michigan at the time and Stephen was working as a farm laborer on a farm owned by James Lamb Cole. For reasons unknown, Kittie and Stephen gave their infant daughter Blanche to Stephen's mother to raise. Stephen died in 1882 when son Berton was only six months old. He had been working in the pineries and had a railway accident.

Kittie and son Berton then moved to Shenandoah, Iowa to live with her adopted parents, the Coles. Six months after the death of her husband Stephen Vorce, Kittie married Frank Parsons on October 21, 1882 in Red Oak, Iowa. It is unknown how that marriage ended.

Kittie and Berton were again living with the Coles in Shenandoah, Iowa when she married George W. Churchill 1 Aug 1883 in Taylor County, Iowa. They lived in Taylor County and had three children: June; Jessie; Anna.

In 1890 Kittie gave son Berton up for adoption to her own adoptive parents, James and Anna Cole. Now she has given away both of her children from her first marriage. It can be surmised that possibly the Coles fell in love with the little boy when he was living with them, and they had no children of their own. Or possibly Kittie's new husband didn't want Berton around for whatever reason.

By 1915 Kittie and George were divorced. By 1920 Kittie was living in Rochester, Missouri, working as a housekeeper on a farm that was owned by her future son-in-law's father. Sometime around the 1930's Kittie was living in St. Joseph, Missouri and running a brothel/boarding house. She stayed in St. Joseph until 1944 when she moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho to live with one of her daughters.
