The daughter of August Heinrich "Gus" Franke, Sr. and Lisetta Caroline "Settie" Weigel, Charlotte worked at the Universal Match Factory in St. Louis, Missouri until 1941.

She married Otto J. "Butch" Klaas on 27 Jun 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri. They were the parents of 3 children.

Charlotte was a member of the Batchtown American Legion Auxiliary. She belonged to Zion Lutheran Church in Batchtown, Illinois.

Butch passed away in 1984.

Charlotte lived until 1992. She died at Jersey Community Hospital at the age of 72 years and 3 months.

She was survived by 3 daughters; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and 2 sisters, Lucille Klaas of Winfield, Missouri, and Helen Hillen of Batchtown.

In addition to her husband, Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; 2 infant sisters, Nevada and Ruth Franke; and 1 brother, August Franke, Jr.

Visitation was held on 16 Oct 1992 at Hanks-Gubser Funeral Home in Hardin, Illinois. A prayer service took place there at 7:30 p.m. that evening. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. the following morning at Zion Lutheran Church in Batchtown.

She was buried next to her husband, Butch.

The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to Zion Lutheran Church, St. Barbara's Catholic Church in Batchtown or to a charity of one's choice.
