At the time of his death at Jersey Community Hospital, Edward was 82 years, 10 months and 4 days old. He was survived by 5 sons; 1 daughter; 19 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; 2 brothers, Elmer and Frank Droege, both of Meppen, Illinois; and 2 sisters, Angeline Siemer of Meppen, and Marie Hanneken of St. Charles, Missouri.
In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; 2 brothers, Bill and Leo Droege; and 3 sisters, Maggie Baalman, Helena Baalman and Celia Droege.
Visitation was held at Hanks-Gubser Funeral Home in Brussels on 22 Mar 1991. A prayer service took place at 6 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary was recited at 8:30 p.m. A funeral Mass was conducted at 10 a.m. the following morning at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Meppen. Edward was buried next to his wife, Irene, who passed away in 1981.
The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the church, to St. Mary's Catholic School in Brussels, or to Masses.
