Sarah Ann McConnell, daughter of William and Marietta (Bohall) McConnell was born August 25, 1861, at Seymore, Indiana, and departed this life Jan. 27, 1924, at the age of 62 years, 5 months abd 2 days. She moved with her parents to Iowa in 1873. Was united in marriage August 18, 1878, to James M. Gibbens, to this union were born five children, three having preceded her to the better land. Elmer S., of Decatur and Mrs. Clara (Clarainda) Heckathorn, of Walworth, Nebr. Three brothers, Uriah McConnell, of Dorkes, Okla.; John of Emerson, North Dakota; and William of Giltner, Nebr.; and five sisters, Amanda McConnell, of Grand River, Ellen Prettyman, of Los Angeles, Calif.; Lizzie Brown, of Wellington, Kans.; Della Lighthill, of Litchfield, Nebr. Eight grandchildren with the devoted husband and a host of friends remain to mourn her loss. She was converted at an early age uniting with the Baptist denomination, remaining with them a number of years later associating herself with the assemblies of God. Standing steadfast in the faith of Jesus. Expressing many times during the last few days and hours of her life here, a glorious hope of the life to come. Expressing her willingness to obey the will of him who doeth all things well. Funeral services were conducted from the home two miles west of Decatur on Wednesday Jan. 30, by Evangelist Land Peace. After which the body was laid to rest in the Decatur cemetery. DECATUR COUNTY JOURNAL
