Florine Annie Measeles June 26, 1919 - March 19, 2011 Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Florine Annie Measles went to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 19, 2011 and is forever rid of her battle with Alzheimer's. She was born June 26, 1919 in Rosenberg, Texas and was the youngest of six children born to Hugo and Emma Pape. Florine was baptized on March 14, 1920 at St Paul Lutheran Church, Rosenberg, Texas. She was married on June 20, 1940 and after brief stays in La Feria, TX. then San Antonio, TX. she moved to Austin in 1949 where she lived for the next 62 years. She retired from Steck Vaughn Printing Company in 1984 where she had worked for over 30 years in the Bindery Department. After retirement she devoted the remainder of her life to her family and church where she was an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for approximately 60 years, was a member of the Senior Choir and was available whenever needed. She will be greatly missed by not only her family but also anyone who knew her. She was one of the most loving and caring person you would ever want to meet. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Paul Measeles, one brother, Howard Pape and four sisters Edna Myer, Alma Gerken, Lila Moeller and Alice Gerken. She is survived by son Melvin Measeles and his wife Shirley Measeles of Friendswood, Texas, their three daughters Paula Whittington and her husband Eric and their two children, Casey and Colin of Helotes, TX; Debbie Sabin and her husband Keith and two daughters, Sara and Shae McNutt of League City, TX; Susan Newman and her husband Mike and their two children Taylor and Jonathan of Pearland, TX; and son Tommy Measeles and his wife Laura Measeles of Austin, Texas, their two children Jason Measeles and his wife Melissa and their two children Brooke and Caleb of Austin, TX. and Amanda Root and her husband James Root and their two boys, Jamison and Garrett of Austin, TX. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2011 from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Grave side services to follow. Pallbearers will be Jason Measeles, Casey Whittington, Colin Whittington, Eric Whittington, Mike Newman, James Root and Keith Sabin. Memorial contributions can be made in Florine's name to Hillcrest Baptist Church Building Fund, 3838 Steck Avenue, Austin, Texas 78759.
