Jack S. LaForce, 64, of Smithville, MO, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2006, at his home, due to complications from brain cancer and inclusion body myositis.
He was born on February 20, 1942 to Frederick S. and Allie Mildred (Dale) LaForce in Kansas City, Mo. Jack grew up in Smithville and in 1960 graduated from Smithville High School. In 1964 he graduated from NWMSU in Maryville where he was a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity. He received degrees in both chemistry and math and later acquired his Lifetime Missouri Teaching Certificate. Jack then taught school at Excelsior Springs and Park Hill Jr. High.
On February 27, 1966 he was united in marriage to Trudy Glenn. After their marriage they lived in Smithville where they made their home.
Jack worked for Phillips Petroleum, American Mineral Spirits Company, and Wright Chemical Company. He worked for Smithville Urban Renewal where he had served as a director, Browning-Ferris Industries, Drew Chemical Company and Western Water Management which later became a part of Ecolab.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Smithville where he was a deacon, elder and trustee and had served as church board president, the Temperence Lodge #438 in Smithville, where he was Worshipful Master in 1980, served on the Smithville City Council, was an Eagle Scout, and had been a member of the Moila Shrine in St. Joseph and the Smithville Jaycees. Jack also played bass guitar in the former Country Rhythm Band.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Truman V. Glenn.
He is survived by his wife, Trudy, of the home, daughters; Heather Ward and husband Lanier, Ft. Knox, Kentucky and Heidi Triplett and husband, Chad, Rutledge, Mo., three grandchildren; Allie Mildred Ward, Parker Jack Triplett and Owen Chad Triplett, a sister; Priscilla LaForce, Smithville and his mother-in-law; Betty (Ford) Glenn, Platte City, Mo.
Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 30th at the Smithville First Christian Church.
Burial: I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Smithville. Masonic Service: 6:00 P.M., Friday, at the church with Visitation following until 9:00 P.M.
