Mrs. (Bessie) Lavin Johnson Mason, age 63, of Harrison, died Monday, March 21, 2011 at the Medical College of Georgia following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 24th at 2:00 pm. with burial in the Bay Springs Cemetery in Oconee. Rev. Emory Anderson and Rev. Jimbo Dominey will officiate. Pallbearers will be John Snider, Bud Hines, Eric Johnson, Mike Powell, Jim Kitchens and Stacey Kitchens.

Lavin was born in Washington County the daughter of the late William Johnson and the late Bessie Irene Johnston Johnson. She was an active member of the Oconee Church of God where she sang. She was the founder of the local Red Hat Society where she served as chapter queen. Lavin's hobbies included singing, cooking, painting and wood carving.

Lavin had many talents and she taught herself many things-to paint, play the piano - she dabbled in photography, songwriting and almost anything else that she desired to try her hand at.

She often said "Don't paint me as a saint 'cause I ain't!" But she loved God, her family and friends and would strive to be impartial, fair and loving to everyone. She was a lady in every sense of the word and she is missed more than words can say.

Survivors are her husband Donnie Mason of Harrison, children, Sandra Stobie (Tim) of Sandusky Ohio, Tammy Quinn (Michael) and Gary E. Brown Jr., all of Harrison, Donna Mason of McDonough, and Matti Raeann Jamison of Harrison, grandchildren, Timothy C. Yates (Stephanie), Marlena Lavin Hines and Tyler G. Wilson, Christa Stobie, Daniel Stobie and Kelly Stobie of Sandusky, Ohio, and her brother Wyncell Johnson of Sandersville,
