Charles E. Smith, 77, a member of a pioneer Delaware County family, died Wednesday at his home in Medford following an extended illness. He was born in Delaware County, the son of Ephraim and Malinda Jane (McKinley) Smith.
Mr. Smith was an employee of the Ontario Manufacturing Co., for 40 years until his retirement and was a member of the Christian Chapel Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Burl Wimmer and Mrs. James Hubbard, both of Muncie; two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Keeley, Muncie, and Mrs. Nellie May, Indianapolis; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Meeks Mortuary with the Rev. Paul Vise officiating. Burial will be in Hawk Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary after 2 p.m. Thursday anytime before the services.
