Bro. McFee was born October 28, 1837,
and departed this life July 20, 1908,
aged 70 years, 8 months and 22 days.
He received a lick by a scared horse
last November a year, from which he
never recovered. Three months ago he
broke down and continued to get weaker
until the Lord said, "It is enough,
come up higher." Bro. McFee was married
to Miss Eliza Sayers, December 31, 1860.
To this union were born six children.
One departed this life when only seven
months old, and the other five daughters
and his wife, Eliza, are left to mourn
their loss. Bro. McFee was converted
and baptized in 1888; was one of the
constituent members of the Standing Stone
Baptist Church, and served as deacon
since the organization of said church.
He lived an exemplary Christian life, and
was loved by all who knew him. He had a
zeal for the Master's cause that made
him faithful in all his Christian duties.
The writer was his pastor for nearly
eleven years. I don't remember that he
was ever missing at a business meeting
in all these years, until his sickness.
Bro. McFee was not like many other
Christians. He never said to his pastor
"I have paid my share" and stopped there.
His share was paid when the debts were
all paid. He got a small production of
oil, and he set one-tenth of that apart
for the Lord. The funeral services were
conducted by his pastor, Rev. W. S. Monroe.
The burial was in the Guthrie Cemetery,
where he awaits the resurrection of the
just. The strong tie of the family home
is broken, but it has become the bond of
a better home forming on the other side.
