Floyd E. Rawleigh

DANSVILLE - Floyd E. Rawleigh, 75, formerly of Dansville, passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 14, 2002 at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville after being transferred from the Livingston County SNF in Mt. Morris where he had been a resident for the past several years.

Floyd was born in Dansville on Sept. 4, 1927, a son of the late Arthur and Nina Ackley Rawleigh. He was the widower of Minerva Jeanette Rawleigh. He was also predeceased by siblings Louise Scott, Marie Swimline, Marian Young, and Edward and William Rawleigh.

Floyd was a former engineer on the Dansviile & Mt. Morris Railroad, retiring in 1976 after 25 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving as an ambulance driver for the 115th Station Hospital. He was a member of Daniel Goho Post #87, The American Legion of Dansville.

Mr. Rawleigh is survived by seven sons: Ronald (Barb) Rawleigh of Wayland, Robert (Darlene) Rawleigh of Dansville, Michael (Linda) Rawleigh of Montour Falls, Tim (Roxanne) Rawleigh of Arkport, Richard (Elaine) Rawleigh of Rochester, Floyd (Janet) Rawleigh of Strasburg, Pa. and Richard (Kathy) Hinds of Decatur, Ala.; 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three sisters: Wihelmena Potter and Ethel Roberts, both of Dansville, and Leigh Watson of Hornell; a brother, Charles Rawleigh of Huntsville, Ala.; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends called last Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hindle Funeral Home, 271 Main St., Dansville. Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Grace Baptist Church with the Rev. Drue Corbett officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in Westview Cemetery, Ossian.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Livingston County SNF Activity Fund, c/o Resident Council, Bldg. #1, Livingston County Campus, Mt. Morris, NY 14610 or the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 110 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, NY 14620.
