María Virginia Gutierrez y Jaureguí was the daughter of Teodoro Gutierrez y Flores (1862-1928) and María Petra Jaureguí y González (1867-1907), both natives of Valle de Guadalupe, Jalisco, Mexico. She married Espiridion Casillas y Cornejo at Valle de Guadalupe September 28, 1915. She entered the United States at El Paso, Texas, with her husband and son Victor in April 1918, giving birth to her son Carmen at El Paso in May. She returned to Jalisco and re-entered El Paso late that same year with Victor and Carmen, and her brother Rito. She proceeded with her family to Santa Mónica, California, where she remained. In June 1938 she returned to Jalisco to visit family, re-entering the United States at Laredo, Texas, with her husband on September 26, 1938. She and her husband lived at 1701 21st Street, Santa Mónica, California. Her brother, Rito, married her husband's sister, Victorina.
