Our loving mother, grandmother and sister, Betty Lorraine Ray Tolman, passed away on March 15, 2011.

She was born November 21, 1924 in West Jordan, Utah, the 6th of 13 children, to Edward and Zina Lloyd Ray. She married Ralph Hatch Tolman on June 7, 1942 in Las Vegas, NV.

Betty and her sisters loved singing. They sang at many funerals and Road Shows in their youth. After daddy died, she spent countless hours volunteering at the Sandy City Museum. She was proud of her plaque from the President of the United States honoring her many hours.
She worked countless hours in the filed and was proud of being the FASTEST tomato picker. She so missed walking out in the field to see the tomatoes and peaches.

Her life revolved around her family and the farm. She worked tirelessly helping all. She had the cleanest house and whitest laundry hanging on the line.

She lived independently in the old farm house for over 60 years, where she passed away peacefully, which was her wish.

Betty is survived by her children Ralph (Vicki), Susan Riley, Carolyn Bartlett, Gary (Mickie), Lynne Orgill, Michael (Sue) and LaRaine (Wendell) Surprise, 23 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, siblings Darrell Ray (Betty), Eugene (Darlene) Ray, Bonnie (Jay) Boggess and brother-in-law O. Albert Hardcastle.

Preceded in death by her husband, daughters Diana and Dawn, and 9 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Sandy 3rd Ward, 8950 S. 400 E. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 So. 2200 W. and Monday 1 hour prior to services at the church. Interment Sandy City Cemetery.
