William Arthur Shelley, son if the late J.W. Shelley and Mrs. Sarah J. Shelley, passed away at Whitney Memorial Hospital at 5 p.m. Monday July 25.

He was born Oct. 21, 1890 in Cherokee Nation, now Oklahoma. He came to Texas with his parents at the age of 3 years and had since resided in and near Whitney.

Mr. Shelley was married to Miss Cora Dunn on May 2, 1914 and to this union two daughters were born, Mrs. Viola Booth, of Prairie Valley and Mrs. Mae Russo of Waco.

After her death in 1918 Mr. Shelley married Mrs. Annie R. Simmons May 31, 1920.

Mr. and Mrs. Shelley have four deceased children. He is survived by the following: his widow; 7 children; Milton Simmons, of Fort Worth, Mrs. Viola Shelley, of Prairie Valley, Mrs. Mae Russo, of Waco, Billy and Lois Shelley of Vernon, Mrs. Sarah Pelham of Vernon and Charlie Shelley of Whitney, eleven grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Sarah J. Shelley of Whitney; five brothers, J.P., L.O., and R.H. Shelley of Whitney; J.E. Shelley of Lueders and A.H. Shelley of Parker, Arizonia; two sisters Mrs. Lavada Stansberry and Mrs Novella Barnes, both of Whitney.

Mr. Shelley was a member of the Prairie Valley Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at the Whitney Missionary Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. F. E. Weller and Rev. H.H. McCollum officiating. Interment was in the Whitney Cemetery.
