OBITUARY:
BANGOR and PORTAGE, Wis. – Elizabeth A. "Betty" Bullman went to be in the presence of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ March 14, 2011, in Portage, Wis. She was born physically Feb. 28, 1924, in Marlboro, Mass.
On Oct. 19, 1974, Betty was born again spiritually. She realized that according to the Bible she was a sinner – Romans 3:23, that the penalty for sin meant she was going to hell when she died – Romans 6:23, that God's Son, the Lord Jesus Christ paid the penalty for her sins with his shed blood on the cross – Romans 5:8-9. Betty repented of her sins and totally trusted and turned to Jesus as her Lord and Saviour who promised to give her eternal life according to his word – I John 5:10-13. She wanted everyone to know that her favorite verse from her King James Bible was John 3:16: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Betty was the only child of Harold and Helen Delano. She graduated from Brewer High School in 1942. She married her beloved husband, Jack C. Bullman, March 2, 1943, and lived in Bangor most of her life, moving to Wisconsin to be near family in December 2009. Betty was a talented professional seamstress when younger and enjoyed doing handwork, especially her embroidered quilted coverlets and pillows in her retirement. As a charter member and former director of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Pine Tree Chapter of Military Officers Association of America, her talent was used to help raise funds for the Ladies MOAA Scholarship.
She was predeceased by Jack, in July 1985. According to God's promises in his word, and Jack's faith and trust in his Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, Betty and Jack have been joyfully reunited in heaven. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Skip "Reg" Williams of Portage, Wis.; her beloved grandson and his wife, Jeff and Debby Williams of Blenheim, New Zealand – she especially loved her time with Jeff when he drove her from Maine to Wisconsin; a much loved and special granddaughter and her husband, Michele and Brian Wilder of Portage, Wis. – she enjoyed the tea parties with Michele and all the special times in Wisconsin; and her six great-grandchildren, Caleb Williams of Martville, N.Y., Luke, Grace and Beth Williams of Blenheim, New Zealand, Everett and Jessica Wilder of Portage, Wisc. A precious infant great-grandson, Joel Williams, predeceased Betty to heaven in 1994. Also surviving is a sister-in-law that was more like a sister, Martha "Micky" Vink of Chambersburg, Pa.
A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 19, at Truth Baptist Church, 110 Henry Drive, Portage, Wis. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Jack, at a private graveside service to be held in the spring at Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta. Although Betty enjoyed flowers, her request was that in lieu of flowers, any gifts in her memory be sent to Mission Fund of Truth Baptist Church, P.O. Box 422, Portage, WI 53901-0422. The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home, Portage, Wis., is assisting the family.
