PORTLAND,IND.-John E. Wallace,79,R.R.6,died Sunday at his home after a long illness.
He and his wife,Myrtle,farmed in Pike Township for more that 40 years. He retired from Teledyne-Portland Forge in 1974 after working 39 years.
He was a member of the St.Paul Boundary Church. He was a native of Jay County and graduated from Madison Township High School in 1930.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons; Dennis E. Wallace of Anderson and Phillip J. Wallace rural Portland and Patrick L. Wallace of Portland;and two brothers:Robert L. Wallace and Daniel P. Wallace,both at rural Portland;10 grandchildren;and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Portland Chapel of Williamson & Spencer Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Betts officiating. Burial will be in Lawndale Cemetery,Ridgeville. Calling at the funeral home will be 2-8 p.m. today and before the services Wednesday.
Memorials can be sent to the Jay County Heart Association.
