Charleston Gill was born on August 11, 1921, in Laurel County, Kentucky, the son of the late Oscar and Bessie (Greene) Gill.
He was united in marriage to Cecil (Owens) Gill, who survives.
He leaves to mourn his passing two brothers, Earl Gill of London, Kentucky, and Lewis Gill of Lily, Kentucky; two sisters, Pauline Gregory of Somerset, Kentucky, and Nancy Etherton of Georgetown, Kentucky. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lottie Smith and Beda Christian.
Charleston Gill departed this life on Friday, May 17, 2002, at his residence, leaving him at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 6 days.
He served in the United States Army during World War II, and was a member of the First Christian Church in London.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 20, 2002, and burial was in the A.R. Dyche Memorial Park under the direction of the House-Rawlings Funeral Home.
