Harold Emley
Merle Eugene Emley entered into rest on
March 9, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospital
from complications of surgery and multiple
chronic illnesses.
He will join his wife of 60 years, Kaye, his
daughter Christine, his twin brother Mel and
brother Walter, who all predeceased him.
Merle lived all of his adult life in the
Santa Clara Valley after coming to California
as a child with his parents.
He was born on January 22, 1923 in Artesia,
New Mexico.
He proudly served his country in the Army Air
Corps from 1944-1946. It was at this time he
met his wife to be, 'Rosie the Riveter', at
the Willow Run Bomber Plant in Michigan and
began a 60-year marriage.
He served in Okinawa and Occupied Japan.
He was a rancher, equipment operator, and
construction manager during a 40 year career.
He is survived by his two sons, Don (Pam) and Mike (Linda). He is also survived
by his four grandchildren, Gregg, Kim, & Melissa Emley, and Shawna Colville
(Ken), his brother Clarence and sisters, Ruth Edwards and Rhea Woosley, as well
as many nieces and nephews.
Merle requested, there be no formal burial service. He wished to be cremated and
interred with his wife at Madronia Cemetery in Saratoga.
There will be a graveside service at a later date.
Donations may be made in Merle's memory to the National WWII Memorial, 700 13th
NW Street, 10th Floor, Washington DC 20005.
