Living in Augusta Co., Va. in 1850 in home of his father, Abraham Flory. By 1853 they are living in Keokuk Co., Ia. Married Mary Armstrong in Iowa. Enlisted as a 29 yr. old resident of South English (Liberty) Keokuk Co., Ia. on July 3, 1861 as 5th Sergt. in Co. F, 5th Iowa Infantry. Reduced to the ranks at his own request Aug. 17, 1862. On detached service at Brigade Headquarters since Aug. 16, 1862 on Co. returns dated Sept.30 and Oct. 31, 1862. Furloughed April 12, 1864 from Washington Hospital at Memphis, Tn. Mustered out July 17, 1864 at Davenport, Ia. Living in San Bernadino, Calif. at time of the 1887 and 1897 veteran reunions. Admitted Oct.6, 1906 to U.S. National Home for Disabled U.S. Volunteers at Sawtelle, Calif. Currently drawing a $12.00 a month pension. Discharged at own request Nov.13, 1906. Readmitted Jan. 1, 1908. Died Nov. 8, 1908 of general paralysis. Personal effects: $17.00 cash turned over to his wife Mary A. Flory on Nov.24, 1908. His remains were removed to San Bernadino, Ca. for burial. His pension certificate No. 986.185 was sent to the agent at San Francisco, Ca. on Nov. 9, 1908.
