Ruby M. Carpenter, wife of Bill Carpenter, age 92, died early Tuesday morning, October 26, 2004. She was born March 3, 1912 in Peru, IN to John and Maime (Bradshaw) Draving, and had lived in the Muskegon area for almost 50 years. Mrs. Carpenter was a member of First Wesleyan Church. She was a loving person, a devoted Christian, and loved to travel. In 1930, she married Chester Hiers in Peru, IN, and he preceded her in death in 1966. She then married William "Bill" Carpenter on April 12, 1980 in Muskegon, and he survives her along with her grandson, Gary (Vicky) Sowles, and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Rebecca Sowles. Mrs. Carpenter was the last surviving of ten children in her family. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Lois Koistinen in 1999. Services will be 1:00p.m. thursday at First Wesleyan Church, 1040 E. Forest, with Rev. Richard K. Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico, IN.
