Mary Grace Gannon McCarty died at the age of 42. She was born in Ballina, Ireland, and emigrated to America at the age of
fifteen, where she lived the rest of her life. She was the oldest of the six children of Mary Moran Gannon and John Gannon, all born in Ireland. Her oldest daughter, Gertrude McCarty Jackson says that Mary was a pleasant woman, almost never mean or angry. She had auburn hair, which many people remember, and she was considered her to be the prettiest of her sisters. She was a very tall woman, probably around 5' 7". She liked to wear nice clothes all the time. And she liked to serve Sunday dinner on her Haviland china.
She got all of her education in Ireland in a one room schoolhouse, not far from the family home. She claimed her Irish school gave her a much better education than she could
have gotten in America.

Married Veatus Cantius McCarty on 2/14/1899 in Larchwood, IA

Mary Grace Gannon McCarty died after giving birth to the twin daughters of Brigid Eileen McCarty Yeager and Mary Arleen McCarty Hynes. The twins were raised by Veatus older brother James and his wife Josie Dunn McCarty
