Identical twin of Eileen McCarty Yeager; their mother died in childbirth. The coffin was made wide so that the 2 babies might be included, but they avoided that fate. The twins were raised by Josie Dunn McCarty, (Find A Grave Memorial# 10802540) 55 year old wife of their uncle, James McCarty (Find A Grave Memorial# 66203464.) Grew up in Sheldon Iowa, public elementary and high school. Graduated from St Catherine's College St Paul MN with BS in Library Science 1938(?) One summer workshop at Vogue Institute of Design, Chicago IL Worked one year in a high school in Mandan North Dakota. While raising children, active in voluntary organizations -- holding state and national offices, including the National Council of Catholic Women, the American Association of University Women (AAUW), the President's Commission on Women. Returned to full-time work October 1971, as Patient's Librarian at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Washington DC; Established Bibliotherapy Training Course and instrumental in starting Bibliotherapy professional groups. Author of several books, including: The Judeo-christian traditions of Easter and Passover (with Emerson Hynes) about 1966; Bibliotherapy the Interactive Process (with Mary Hynes-Berry), 1988. Joined The Benedictine Order, Summer, 1980, St. Joseph MN Professed perpetual vows 11 Jul 1985, St. Joseph MN

All ten children were born in St. Cloud hospital, on the banks of the Mississippi river, while the family lived in Collegeville, near St. John's University, just outside St. Cloud. The family moved to Arlington VA in January 1959.
