Carla Sheyahshe Gatewood was born February 4, 1955 in Clinton, Oklahoma to Tilman "Jack" & Dorothy (Pratt) Sheyahshe. She departed this life Monday, September 6, 2010 at the age of 55 years, 7 months, and 2 days. She graduated from University High School in Norman, Oklahoma in 1973. On February 14, 1985 Carla Sheyahshe and Melvin Gatewood were united in marriage in Corpus Christi, Texas. They moved to Bristow in 2001. Carla's professional career spanned over 20 years as a well-respected Nurse and care-giver to many patients at Norman Regional Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma. She enjoyed the outdoors, playing with her dogs, crocheting, knitting, and most of all spending time with her family. She is survived by three sons; Michael Sheyahshe of Mustang, Oklahoma, Tommy & Joshua Gatewood both of Bristow, Oklahoma. Three sisters; Judy Sheyahshe of Bristow, Kay McCann of Lake of the Pines, Texas, Jackie Gatlin of El Reno, Oklahoma, and Mary Ann Buggs of Vallejo, California. Two grandchildren, Hanna Reese Skaggs and Jack Parker Sheyahshe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack & Dorothy Sheyahshe, husband, Melvin Gatewood, one brother, Zane Staley. Memorial services are scheduled for 10AM, Friday, September 10, 2010 at the Gatewood home.
