She was married to Asmus Frees in 1889. To this union were born three daughters: Marie, Anna Margaretha, and Anna.
In 1894 the family migrated to America and came to Avoca, Iowa. Here they lived for three years, when the family moved to a farm in Polk Township of Shelby County near Irwin. Mr. and Mrs. Frees left the farm in 1915 and moved to Irwin where they lived until 1943 when they moved to Harlan. After coming to Harlan they became members of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Frees suffered a stroke 2 months prior to her death.

"Final Rites Today For Mrs. Frees, 81, Pioneer Resident
Last rites for Mrs. Asmus Frees, 81, who died Saturday at her home are being held this afternoon (Tuesday). A short service will be held at the Schack Funeral Home at 1 o'clock with later services at the Lutheran Church at 1: 30. Rev. S.S. Kaldahl will be in charge.
A native of Germany, Mrs. Frees was a long time resident of Shelby County. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Philip Mortensen of Audubon and Mrs. Lars Hodne; nine grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Also a sister in Germany.
Burial will be in the Irwin cemetery.
