Born Joseph J. Miklosovic in Nagyszombat, Slovakia. Immigrated to the United States in 1907.

Joseph J. Mcallise, Sr, 2055 Asbury St., N.W., was dead on arrival of an apparent heart attack at St. Joseph Riverside Hospital, Friday (7-24-82) at 9:42 p.m.

He was born September 29, 1902, in Butler, Pa., the son of John and Mary McAllise.

A resident here since 1943, coming from Farrell, Pa., Mr. McAllise retired in 1969 from Copperweld Steel Corp., where he had been a crane operator since 1943. In 1924, he was a baseball pitcher in the Memphis Minor League. He was a member of St. Pius X Church here.

He served as president of United Steelworkers of America Local 2243 from 1948 to 1952, vice president from 1956 to 1964 and chairman of the union grievance committee for 21 years. He also had been president of Copperweld Retirees, a member of SCOPE, the Warren Moose Lodge and was active in the Senior Citizens, Bowling League. Mr McAllise was an Army Veteran of World War I.

Survivors include his wife Gertrude "Dora" Kane McAllise, whom he married in 1948; four daughters, Mrs. Marlene Thomas of Liberty Township, Mrs. Joyce Vens and Mrs. Cynthia Cunningham, both of Warren and Miss Helen McAllise of Anaheim, California; three sons, Raymond of Canal Fulton, Joseph Jr., of Huntington Beach, Calif. and Richard of Warren; five sisters, Mrs Anna Betchie of Farrell, Pa., Mrs Vilma Grega of Sharon, Pa., Mrs. Mary Thraves of Solomon, Md., Mrs. Rose Adams of Fairfield Calif. and Mrs. Elizabeth Suman of Youngstown, 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m., at the church. Friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Robert H. Roberts Memorial Home. A prayer service will be held today at 8:45 p.m. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery.

The family requests material tributes take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association.
