Born in Galbally, County Limerick, Ireland.Arrived in NY on the "Cedric" in 1913.Lived in New Haven, CT with relatives before settling in Queens, NY, where he met and married Catherine in 1923.He was a gentle , patient man who loved to read and recite poetry. A devoted family man, he did not smoke or drink, had a great sense of humor, and despite the Great Depression, was never unemployed.He loved his adopted country, and dreamed of seeing California. This Woodside taxi driver held his family together despite losing his wife and oldest son simultaneously in 1936.Run down by a taxi on a rainy night while hurrying home to his daughter's 22nd birthday party, he died of his injuries the next day.He is still remembered and thought of often.
