Chico Daily Record, Tuesday Morning, October 7, 1902, pg 1 col 3: Mrs. Clark's Death. The remains of Mrs. Tryphena Clark, mother of Mrs. E. Shand, arrived in Chico last evening, where the funeral will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Clark died Sunday night at 10 o'clock.
Deceased was a native of New York, where she was born February 16, 1820. She was married in 1843 in Wisconsin, her husband died a few years later, and in 1854 she came to California with her two children, taking up a new home at Marysville.
There she was again married. She came to Chico in 1861, making this her home for the remainder of her life.
Mrs. Clark had been a member of the Methodist Church about sixty years. She leaves three daughters: Mrs. E. Shand of Chico, Mrs. Lewis of Sacramento and Mrs. A. Wentworth of Red Bluff. The funeral will take place this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist Church.
