Garland R. Catron, 75 Garland Richard Catron, 75, of Fries, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 1994, at Twin County Community Hospital in Galax.

He was born Aug. 8, 1918, in Fordwick, to Roy Glen Catron and Lucy Poole Catron.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Catron of Fries; two sons, Billy Catron and Donnie Catron, both of Fries; one sister, Nettie Delzell of Los Osos, Calif.; two brothers, Homer Catron of Los Osos, Calif., and Cliff Catron of Osia, Calif.; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews. An 11 a.m. graveside funeral was held Tuesday at Monta Vista Memory Gardens with Dr. John Hackler and the Rev. Everett Young officiating.

Military rites were conducted at graveside by the Independence V.F.W. Post #7726. Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home handled arrangements.
