Maggie was born in Pont Canavese Italy, the six child of eleven born to Gioanni Antonio and Maria Domenica Bausano Bausano. She came to the US in 1901, going to stay with her sister Catterina (Caroline) Picchiottino in Kearsarge Michigan. She married Joe Massa 30 Nov 1902 at St Mary Church, in Greenland Michigan, and together they had twelve children: Stephen, Johnny, Anthony, Edward, Frances Defendente Alberto, Mary, Maurice, Ida Josephine, Edith, Margaret and Rosemary. When the mines began slowing down in the Calumet area, the family moved in late 1920 to Universal Indiana, where some of Joe's family was, and then finally to Gary Indiana about 1925. They resided at 1049 Polk, Gary for many years.
