Salena Adams was the second daughter of George William Adams and Lucy Ann Northcutt Adams. She was born in Prairieton Township, just west of Moweaqua, Illinois. She was a sister to her brothers Charles O. Adams and Wilbur D. Adams and a sister to Elizabeth W.(Adams) Beaumont. She married Sidney Dedman of England on December 21, 1881 in Blue Mound, Illinois. They became long-term residents of Decatur, Illinois. They had two children, both girls; Verna Inez (Branch) and Sidney M. (Cline). Salena died at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur, Illinois, the same hospital where her sister Elizabeth had died in 1903.

Mrs. Salena I. Dedman, wife of Sidney Dedman, 1340 W. Wood, died in St. Marys hospital, thursday morning at 1:10 oclock following an illness of long duration. Death followed a second stroke of apoplexy which she suffered Monday noon.
Salena I. Adams was born in Christian county, Dec. 12,1863. She was married to Sidney Dedman Dec. 21, 1881 in Blue Bound. Mrs. Dedman leaves two daughters, Mrs. Verna Branch and Mrs.Sidney Cline both of Decatur, two sisters, Mrs. L. F. Decker and Mrs. J. W. Pain, both of Springfield, Two brothers, Charles and William Adams, both of Moweaqua and seven grandchildren.
She was a member of the St. Johns church,Episcopal. She had been a resident of Decatur for the past 37 years, moving here from Salina, Kansas.
The body was taken to Monson funeral home where private services will be in the chapel at 2 oclock Friday afternoon. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Stanley MacDonell.
Burial will be in the Fairlawn mausoleum. The family requests no flowers be sent.
