ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Alvina Bruggeman, 91, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Good Samaritan Care Center in St. Ansgar.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Toeterville, with the Rev. Barbara Finley-Shea officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery, Toeterville. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

Alvina LaVonne Adams was born July 4, 1919, in Mitchell County to Leo and Julia (Gartner) Adams. On Feb. 26, 1938, she married Clarence Bruggeman. They farmed one mile east of Toeterville and then moved one mile north of Toeterville. In 1945 they purchased a farm two miles north of Toeterville and lived there until 1971, then built a home in St. Ansgar.

She became a resident at Good Samaritan Care Center in St. Ansgar on Dec. 30, 2010, and really enjoyed and appreciated the loving care she received.

She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. She enjoyed being a member of Ladies Aid, cutting bars for fish fry, cutting pies for Memorial Day dinner, gardening and canning, rummage sales at Eldon and Anita's home, and visiting with children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild
Alvina and Clarence spent many enjoyable hours making windmills and many other woodcrafts.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, and parents.

Alvina is survived by her children, (Lorraine (Leo) Kofoot, Eldon (Anita) Bruggeman and Donna (Paul) Finstuen; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Maxine Bruggeman.

She also enjoyed her step-brothers and sisters.
