Nona May (Snyder) Albert, the oldest daughter of John Hartranft Snyder and Minnie Rebecka (Strohecker) Snyder, was born at the Snyder family home on Main Street in Lavelle, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.
Together, Minnie, John, Nona, and the oldest of her siblings operated a dry goods store from the ground floor of the Snyder family home. Later in life, she co-owned and operated Albert's Clothing in Pine Grove with her husband, Allen A. Albert.
Nona and Allen married later in life and had no children of their own, but were active members of their church throughout their entire lives. Nona, long after her passing, is still remembered by her fellow church members and neighbors for her contributions to the church cookbook and community bake sales. She made a wicked sand tart. During the firm's early days, its main communications center was based at the Snyder family home on Main Street in Lavelle. As a chief stockholder and secretary of the company, John H. Snyder oversaw the firm's expansion which connected the Lavelle center with Bell Telephone Company's Ashland facility. After 47 years of transmission, full control of the firm was transferred to Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania in 1956.
