Meddie McCafferty, 87, of Waldron, Arkansas went to be with the Lord and Savior Wednesday, March 2, 2011. She was a cosmetologist, bookkeeper, and was of the Baptist Faith.
Meddie enjoyed canning, quilting, was an avid writer, and loved to take her grandchildren to the farmers market. Above all she was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother.

Meddie is survived by her children Joy Smith of Kokomo, Indiana, Phyllis Pyke and husband Jim of Rochester, Indiana, Orman McCafferty and wife Christine of Mansfield, and James Brad McCafferty and wife Leverda of Waldron; 14 grandchildren Rod Smith, Rich Smith, Kim Maxwell-Merdock, Patrick Murray, Mike Murray, Bruce Pyke, Ryan Pyke, Bryan Pyke, Colleen McCafferty, Scott McCafferty, Patrenda Gerlick, Misty Owens, Jackie Cavner, and Misty Pyke; 21 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

Meddie is also survived by her sisters Bearnice Proffitt and Glee Norris of Wichita, Kansas, and brother Wheeler Barker of Wichita, Kansas.


She was preceded in death by her husband James Kello McCafferty, Sister Elsie Wallace of Waldron, Brothers Mitt Barker, Cecil Barker both of Tennessee, and Wrex Barker of Wichita, Kansas; and son-in-law Richard Smith of Kokomo, Indiana

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the Waldron Church of the Nazarene with interment to follow in the Monroe Cemetery in Harvey, AR under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron, Arkansas.


Viewing will be Friday, March 4, 2011 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.


Pallbearers will be Rich Smith, Rod Smith, Scott McCafferty, Pat Murray, Mike Murray, Bruce Pyke, Ryan Pyke, and Wade Gerlick.
