Funeral services for Arey Allen Alexander, 92, of Simsboro, LA will be held Sunday, June 2, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. in the Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Oden and Rev. Wilton Wall officiating. Burial will be in the Simsboro Cemetery. Mr. Alexander was born October 25, 1909 and went to be with the Lord May 30, 2002 after a brief illness. Mr. Alexander loved Simsboro and served as its mayor from 1952 - 1982. He also owned and operated a local grocery store and service station and was retired from the U. S. Postal Service. He was a member and deacon of the Simsboro Baptist Church, a member of the Simsboro Masonic Lodge and the Simsboro Lion's Club. Mr. Alexander was a World War II veteran, serving in the 161st Anti-Aircraft Battalion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas C. and Dolly M. Alexander; wives, Gladys B. Alexander and Ruby D. Alexander; sisters, Floy Taylor and Lucille Belton; brothers, Harrell Alexander, Oren Alexander, and T. B. (Bill) Alexander. Mr. Alexander is survived by a daughter, Lou Ann Smith and husband Jerry; granddaughter, Susie Clendenen and husband William L. (Bill); a grandson, Allen Smith and wife Brooke; one great grandson, Caleb L. Clendenen; sisters, Robbie Willard and Sybil Henry, all of Ruston; and a brother, R. K. Alexander of Houston. Pallbearers will be Allen M. Smith, William L. Clendenen, David Gullatt, Robert Howard, Ronnie Cathey and Ted Polman. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home. The family wishes to express a special thanks to the staff at the Russ House.
