Sybil Virginia Alexander Howard Henry, 93, passed away on May 9, 2011. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church of Ruston on Friday afternoon, May 13, 2011 at 4 p.m. with Dr. Chris Craig officiating. Visitation was at 3 p.m. at the church. Following the service, interment was at the Simsboro Cemetery in Simsboro, Louisiana.

Mrs. Sybil Howard Henry was born in Simsboro, Louisiana on December 4, 1917, and had lived in Ruston for the past 36 years until a short move to Bryan.

After graduating from Louisiana Tech, Miss Sybil taught business subjects in Monroe and Lake Charles. Later she became a public accountant, serving businesses and individuals. Mrs. Sybil Howard Henry was an active member of First Baptist Church of Ruston, as a member of the Woman's Missionary Union and Faith Sunday School Class. She also was a member of the Cosmos Club, where she served as president for several terms. Sybil was active in the Adult Literacy Program and enjoyed helping people whenever she could. She saw needs and quietly gave. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to play games, but most of all loved to win. She was a survivor of breast cancer.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Robert Ball Howard; her parents, Thomas Clark Alexander and Dollie Mitchell Alexander; her three sisters, Lucille Belton, Floy Taylor, Robbie Willard; her five brothers, Bill Alexander, Oren Alexander, Arey Alexander, William Harrell Alexander, and Royal Kent Alexander.

She is survived by her husband, H. L. Henry Jr. to whom she had been married for ten years; her daughter, Jane and husband, Alton Thornell, Jr. of Hayward, Calif.; son, Robert Howard and wife, Debra of College Station; six grandchildren, seven great-grand children, several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

She is buriend next to her first husband: Robert Ball Howard
