John's father was Abraham Stearns Blake, one of Montana's earliest pioneers. His mother was Mary Use Blake, an Indian girl, daughter of a chief, who was raised by John & Nancy Owen, at Fort Owen in Stevensville, MT. John lived in Victor all his life & farmed his property there until his death.
