Dies in Automobile Accident: Thrown to the pavement by the impact of a collision of the Ford bug on which she was riding, with a Nash sedan, Mrs. Nina Barnthouse, 27, wife of Frank Barnthouse, Liberty street, last night suffered injuries which resulted in her death at the hospital less than an hour after the accident.
Mrs. Viola Humphrey, owner of the Fairview Rooms, died a short time after the accident, her death said to have been due to the excitement connected with the mishap.
Mrs. Viola Stone Humphrey Succumbs to Heart Attack After Excitement Surrounding Accident--Son Survives--No Definite Funeral Arrangements.
Viola Mae McCampbell Stone Humphrey was born April 12, 1880, and was aged 50 years, 1 month and 5 days at the time of her death.
She was married to Serphine Stone at Bandon, formerly Pilot Rock, later a rancher in that district, and to this union two children were born, Violet Pearl Stone, born in 1896, died 1906. A son, Harold Beaufort Stone, graduate of the Ashland high school and Oregon State College, and now a resident of Berkeley, Calif., survives. Mr. Stone's death occurred in November, 1930, at McMinnville.
Mrs. Humphrey lived in Ashland during the last 20 years. She was owner of the Fairview Hotel here and the Pondosa Apartments in Klamath Falls.
Funeral services are to be announced later.
In addition to her son, Mrs. Humphrey is survived by her husband, Chas. E. Humphrey, and three sisters: Mrs. J.A. Tate, Dunsmuir; Mrs. J.A. Alumbaugh, Bandon; Mrs. Lou Roberts, Ashland; and two brothers: Wm McCampbell, Klamath Falls, and Roy McCampbell of Portland.
