Katie's parents were immigrants from Hannover, Saxony, Germany. In 1880, At age 4 she was living with her aunt & uncle Henry & Maria E Kilian near Patoka in Dubois County, Indiana. Uncle Henry was from Cassel Germany and Aunt Maria was from Hannover. It's unknown if her parents were still living at this point but they were in Indiana because she was born here. Due to the 1890 census being destroyed there are no readily available records showing anything about her again until 1895 when she shows up in Tippecanoe County, Indiana getting married.
Katie married Sanford B Leach on July 16, 1895 in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. They had a son, Edward, in 1897. Sandford died in 1909 and Catherine (Katie) was remarried to George W Schomers on September 3, 1912 in Tippecanoe County, Indiana.

Surviving with the husband are a son, Edward A. Leach, Mulberry, and three brothers, Peter Killian of Clarks Hill and John and Edward Killian, both of Lafayette.
