Frances Cary Moomaw, age 95, died Friday morning, May 29 in a local hospital. She recently lived in Roanoke and Montvale Nursing Homes. She was born in Roanoke a daughter of the late Cary A. and Matilda Ankeney Moomaw, and was a graduate of the old Roanoke High School and of Farmville State Normal School, now Longwood College. She took additional work at the University of Kentucky, she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority and was a life member of the former Alleghany Garden Club. Miss Moomaw was a lifelong member of Second Presbyterian Church, Roanoke. She taught at the former Jamison Avenue and Park Street Schools in Roanoke as well as, Schools in the Panama Canal Zone, retiring in 1959 after serving as principal of two Zone schools for several years. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Theodore (Catharine) Morgan, Madison, Wis.; two brothers, Cary A Moomaw Jr and Edward Cline Moomaw, Sr.
, both of Roanoke; nephews, Robert W. Miles, Jr., Brooklyn, N.Y.; Edward W. Miles, Park Hills, Ken.; Ted Moomaw, Jr., Roanoke; nieces, Mrs. Charles (Marian) Cary Zepp, Chippewa Falls, Wis.; Mrs. Lon (Ginny) Savage, Salem; Stephanie Morgan, Madison, Wis.; Marian Morgan, Charlottesville; Laura Morgan, N.Y., N.Y.; several grandnephews and nieces. Interment in Evergreen Burial Park.
