Born Feb. 19, 1918, in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Alice Brandenburg Adkins. She was the wife of the late Ray Thomas Wiles.
She was an active member of the Evangelical Reformed Church United Church of Christ in Frederick and was active in the Frederick Moose. She was formerly employed with the Frederick County Board of Education in a school cafeteria. Following retirement she enjoyed taking care of her great-grandsons every day. She also enjoyed flower gardening and taking bus trips.
Surviving are daughter Shirley C. Layton and husband Courtney, of Mount Airy; son Charles T. "Tom" Wiles and wife Patsy, of Thurmont; grandchildren Karen Boettner and Courtney Scott Layton; great-grandsons Ryan, Kyle and Carl Boettner; sisters Mildred Shafer, of Virginia, Jane Kolb, of Creagerstown, Phyllis Kolb, of Frederick, and Shirley Smith, of Jefferson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Steven Ray Wiles; a grandson, Thomas Alan Wiles; and sisters Freda Eighenbrode, Virginia McMath and Frances Grimm.
Interment will Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Middletown.
