Anna Buhrer, a native of Zurich, Switzerland, immigrated to the U.S. in 1872 with her four children, to join her husband Jacob who immigrated in 1866, settling near Ellenboro, Ritchie County, West Virginia. In 1889, her husband Jacob died, so she and her youngest son Henry moved to Dallas, Texas to be with her other children Jacob, Anna, and John, who had moved to Dallas earlier in 1879 to start a dairy business. Her daughter Anna then married Chris Moser, a Swiss immigrant in Dallas also engaged in the dairy business. Mrs. Buhrer lived in the Moser household for many years, helping to raise her daughter's six children after the death of Chris Moser in 1893.
