Sir Thomas Wyatt was the first Wyatt to become a Protestant. His wife was Lady Jane Haute, a daughter of Sir William Haute of the old Firt-Haute family. Sir Thomas was beheaded April 11, 1554. He was opposed to the marriage of Queen Mary of England to the Spanish King, Phillip. He led an army to intercept the landing of King Phillip in England. His forces were cut off by the forces of Queen Mary. He was taken prisoner, found guilty of treason and beheaded. His estates were confiscated. He left two daughters, Anna and Jane, and one son, George.

He was known as Sir Thomas Wyatt, the younger.
