Mrs. Evelyn Blackwell Payne, 68, of Lancaster passed away Saturday, February 19, 2011 at her home. She was born September 7, 1942 in Chesterfield, a daughter of the late Lawton Blackwell and Ellen Poston Blackwell. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Sister. She loved the outdoors, and especially her gardening and flowers.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Payne will be held Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 3 pm from the graveside at West Side Cemetery.

Mrs. Payne is survived by three sons, Eddie Johnson, Jerry Johnson and Stanley Johnson all of Lancaster; a daughter, Nancy Mangum of Lancaster; four brothers, Joe Blackwell of Fort Lawn, Mackey Blackwell of Lancaster, Marion Blackwell of Chester and Vernon Blackwell of Columbia; two sisters, Janice Nix of Lexington and Betty Ann Singletary of Cordova; fourteen grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Johnson Gorham.
