Mr. Ankrim is recuperating at his home from a recent illness during which he was admitted to the hospital. He was presented with his fifty-year pin by George King, present secretary of South Point Lodge No. 497, F&A.M.

During his long years of fraternal affiliation Mr. Ankrim served his lodge as senior deacon, senior warden, master, treasurer for nine years and secretary for 27 years.

On November 3, he quietly observed his 87th birthday anniversary. In addition to his teaching career he served for years as clerk of the South Pont school board and for a short time was member of the county school board. He will be remembered by hundreds who were privileged to learn under his teaching.

C. W. ANKRIM, IRONTON AREA EDUCATOR, DIES
IRONTON, March 6 - Charles W. Ankrim, 87 died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Baker of Deering, at noon today. The former teacher was the most widely known educator in the county, having been connected with the schools nearly 60 years.

The son of the late John and Jane Duncan Ankrim, he was born at Burlington, Nov. 3, 1869, and spent his entire life in this county. He was married to Elizabeth Ricketts, April 17, 1875. Mrs. Ankrim died Sept. 18, 1946. [Tombstone = 1926]

After teaching many years in the county schools, he was principal at Campbell building in this city five years. Following his teaching career, he was a member of the South Point Board of Education 16 years, 14 of which he served as clerk. He also served a term on the County School Board.

Last November Mr. Ankrim was honored for 50 years in the Masonry. He was secretary of South Point Lodge 497 F. & A.M. 27 years. He was a member of the Masonic Veterans of Ohio, past patron of South Point Chapter 404 Eastern Star. He was a Methodist, active in Delta Methodist Church until the church was discontinued. The then transferred to the Burlington M. E. Church.

Four daughters survive, Mr. C. O. Lambert of Ashland, Mrs. F. E. Kelly of South Point, Mrs. Baker and Miss Josephine Ankrim, a teacher in the South Point schools. One sister, Miss Gertrude Ankrim resides at North Kenova. Two brothers, John and Edward both live in South Point. He also leaves six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and nephews and nieces survive.

Funeral services will be held at the Tracy Brammer Funeral Home at 2 P.M. Saturday with burial at Woodland Cemetery. Rev. Lloyd Fought of Chesapeake will officiate. Friends may call at 2 P.M. The Masonic service will be held at 7:30 P.M. Friday.
